Golden sands and rock pools galore
South Devon is an area famed for having some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK. When you stay at Leonards Cove, you’re never that far from a range of beaches. Each one offers something a little bit different, where you’re looking for wide, soft sands to play on with your family, rock pools to explore or coastal walks to wander on.

Blackpool Sands is set in a sheltered bay surrounded by trees and is one of South Devon’s most beautiful treasures. This award-winning privately managed ‘Blue Flag’ family beach has a turquoise blue sea.
Enjoy stunning views out to sea

This shingle and rock beach gets completely covered at high tide, but when the tide is out it has stunning views of Dartmouth Castle and out to see. Tea rooms and toilets are just 50 metres from the beach and the town of Dartmouth is explorable from here.

A beautiful pebble beach that stretches for almost two miles, Slapton Sands is a beach where families and locals alike enjoy a great day out. The sea is safe and calm, there are water sports and encloses a coastal lagoon, leading to rare flora and fauna.

The beach at the pretty village of Torcross extends on from Slapton Sands, meaning you can explore the picturesque coast while knowing there’s plenty of shopping, cafes and toilets nearby in the village.

This award-winning Blue Flag beach is backed by a freshwater lake and fields — dog-friendly, there are boulders to climb, while the tiny village of Beesands is charming and tranquil.

If you’re searching for a tranquil and sedate beach, this small shingle beach is perfect for you. One of the quieter beaches in Start Bay, it has excellent walks, historical interest and beautiful views.
Wide sands safe for families

This incredibly popular beach is slightly further away but worth the trip. Dotted with rock pools, Bigbury’s wide sands and shallow waters make it a safe beach for families, while thrill seekers can take part in water sports such as windsurfing and bodyboarding.
